Big Sandy River Tri-State Conference
Saturday, April 5-6, 2002
Breaks Interstate Park

The Big Sandy River Watershed drains an area in three different states. (KY, VA, WV) Often state lines have prevented resource managers looking at the watershed as a whole.

In an effort to unite organizations, individuals and agency staff working to protect the watershed, We are organizing a "Big Sandy River Watershed Watch " to help organize what people are doing to protect their watershed.

Volunteers, citizen groups and agencies will be asked to visit streams in their community that feed into the Big Sandy River, Tug Fork, Levisa Fork, Russell Fork and other tributaries to these streams. Participants will be asked to take photographs, measure water quality, inventory aquatic organisms and tell the story of the river along the way.

We have selected September 6, 2001 as the "Kickoff" day for this event.

Groups that would like to participate should register or call us at 1-800-928-0045 Ext 473. We will talk to you about the best way to send your information to this site.
